Just been watching a you tube report on the Caterham 7 and was struck by the similarity in many ways to the Trad Morgan. Front engined lightweight fairly basic - an older design still being made.
So why did you chose a Trad rather than a Caterham?

Good question Howard
Isn’t Caterhams more of a track car, rather than a country road car ?
IMO the Morgan Trad is a far better looking car.

The Morgan is a tad more practical with sidescreens and at least a little luggage capacity. It is probably also a bit easier to get in an out of. I think this is an apples/oranges comparison. Try both and see which you prefer. I love my trad, but my cousin loves his Caterham equally.

Management vetoed any thought of a Caterham - for all the reasons cited by JCK above.
Over the years, we have had a number of people join TM having traded a Caterham in on a Morgan. IIRC, most have stayed in the Morgan camp with only 1 or 2 going back to the dark side.

Mog passenger compartment is ENORMOUS compared to a Caterham!

For me, two-up touring ability over reasonably long distances.
The Caterham is, in my mind, a mini racing car and cries out to be driven like that rather than toured in.

Comparing a Caterham to a trad Morgan is difficult as they are very different cars , a Caterham 7 is a fast and excellent handling small car and much lighter being less than 600kg , many being around 450 kg. Different people drive them , mostly younger . Trad Morgans don't handle well being leaf sprung at back and are much much slower !

Much much slower!!??? Depends who driving...…..
Caterhams are great but somehow a Morgan feels far more special - maybe its heritage or class. Sure a Caterham is more an out and out racer - maybe its a one-trick pony in that regard. A Morgan can-be whatever you want it to be. A laid back country lane car or a supersport - both are plus4s and very different in character.
