Installed a new battery and my battery ran down. I noticed every now and then you hear a tick and the tachometer moves up and down. Is this normal? I assuming that is what is running the battery down when it sits.

Thanks

No ticking for me...

1. I use a CTEK connected to the 12v accessory port in the car. Never had a problem starting after its been on this (on original 3 yr old battery)...

2. When overnighted at RTTC twice this year and the battery failed to start the car on both occasions. I took their suggestion to check and top up the battery - found the water levels low. Carry a Lithium booster pack in case of issues on travels though...

Thanks. Maybe just better to use a tender charger. The ticking is very odd. Very intermittent timing wise and takes about 5 minutes. It is like a pulse of electricity going through to the tack.

I will admit to this, but I thought Morgan batteries were either sealed for life, no fill or gel type. Is that wrong, if so I better get out to the garage and have a look.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

No ticking or flick of the tacho on my 2013 M3W. Suggest something is not quite right there. Try removing a fuse at a time to see what circuit is causing the "tick" as a start. Even with the immobiliser fitted your battery shouldn't drain in less a month, if it's in good condition.

Well after a couple years and a dead battery a couple times I finally figured it out. I replaced the voltage regulator with the Harley version and the tick is gone.

I spoke too soon. The tick is still there. I think the battery was just low. It is very odd.
