In our house, we just call it “ the Morgan,” but usually with a silly parody of a posh accent. I have to be careful not to let that slip out in public though, anyone overhearing might think we seriously are pompous twits.

Has anybody called theirs “Piers”?

If it had to have a name, it would need to be: Woody, Twiggy, Ashy or splinter.

And why oh why isn’t it a ‘Moggin’

Good question Stewart. I’ve asked loads of people why “Noggin” but no one seems to know. confused2

Doesn't it come from the old saying of 'a noggin & natter' or as we perhaps now know it 'a beer & a chat'

I seem to remember from some old English or maybe even Shakespeare " Hoggins and Noggins" a chat & meal in convivial company.

You could be onto something there Jon, according to the Oxford dictionary a Noggin is a small amount of alcoholic beverage, normally a quarter of a pint.
