I am of the opinion the the standard Spare Wheel Clamp fitted to my 1982 4/4 appeared rather bland and featureless so I decided to make one of my own design to fit the standard width 4/4 (and TR +4s) with wire wheels (155/165) https://www.tm-img.com/image/YhJiw

I made the replacement clamp with 6082 T6 Aluminium Alloy which has been natural anodised. In manufacturing I made two extra clamps, due to the fact there was a minimum charge for the anodising. So I am now in the position to offer the two additional clamps that I Made for sale at £32.00 each plus postage to cover the costs of materials and anodising

I welded the threaded bolt into a chrome hex wheelnut, and it has served me well for quite a few years....it tightens with the wheelnut spanner thing, and a couple of taps with a lead hammer. Nice and secure, and looks good too.

How does that work ? When screwing the Wheel Nut and the Clamp Screw welded together with two different thread pitches

That's a lot of money for what is essentially a T-Bar.

No: the original threaded bar has only one threaded part, with the T handle at the other. The T handle was chopped off, and the plain part of the threaded stud was welded into the cavity in the hex wheelnut.

Or if you buy it off someone who made has made it for them self
Also Breviel, yes the wheel shown with the new Wheel Clamp has be re-finished just regard it as a marketing ploy, do you think it will work ?

Just made one for my 1968 Plus 4 out of stainless. Total material cost was 4 quid for a 12" off cut of stainless round.

Took around 2 hours including screw cutting the stem, drilling, tapping and polishing.

Popped the 50 year old alloy disc in the lathe and give it a light facing. Looks as good as new
