Looks as though it’s had weights removed which has damaged the paint and it’s been touched up. The paint on the rim bolts will be from when the wheel was painted at the factory. What’s the outside of the wheel like? That’s the bit that really matters.

I can see how someone doing final inspection or PDI would miss paint defects on the inside of the wheel, even if they had it up on a ramp with a torch it's quite easy to miss.

But I cannot see how the person who painted the wheel could possibly not have known.

Sorry to hear of the naff paintwork
I’m guessing someone in the paintshop wasn’t bothered as it was the inside which isn’t good at all and it wouldn’t have been seen on the PDI as it was hidden

At least you have the fingerprints of the culprit

Book ‘em Danno!

As to the rite tite nut

The direction of the thread means that the nuts self tighten, this coupled with the fact that it’s tightening on and biting into a layer of paint will make it doubly stuck

When you put back, put some grease back on the spline and on inside face of the nut where it touches the wheel to hopefully make it a bit easier next time

Just wipe off any excess when you have the nut back on after a couple of firm taps on the spanner to tighten

Hope you get it sorted

I'm the second owner but the car only had 1100 miles on it when I bought it in October from a Morgan dealer. It's still under the factory warranty so I shall be contacting them on Monday to see what they say.

This was the F/O/S wheel. Had the F/N/S off this morning and it's as you would rightly expect it to be - pretty much perfect. Most odd...

Awful. Put copper slip on the splines but be careful as they are very sharp. I use a paint brush to apply it.

I fear the slight paint blemishes on the inner rims of the wheels, agreed annoying, is one of the pitfalls of a hand-built car. The Morgan factory isn't a modern, air-tight temp controlled facility and into the mix we have humans. It looks like a basic human error - but being out of sight I guess the factory wouldn't deem it a huge issue? Not something that would be checked in the factory PDI area or at dealers I imagine.

Many modern cars have paint that's less than finished under the bonnets for example - an area where Morgan exceed the norm.
