We have used one for several years - and they are great.
With the Morgan we just hold it up - with the black side facing the barrier - and we're straight through. Doing it this way means there is no chance of us forgetting it's there and leaving it available for the first light fingered individual at a motorway stop.
It is also recommended not to leave them in place with any car - the screen could be broken to get them.

We've used ours many times on our 1999 4/4 (with electrically heated windscreen) and it's absolutely invaluable on a right hand drive car. It has never failed to work and we have the sticky bracket at the bottom of the screen so that we can see the plipper easily and where it's less likely to be forgotten when we leave the car. It's easy to order extra sticky brackets, so we have them on our daily drivers as well. Being near the Chunnel were covered, whichever of the cars we use.

Works brilliantly behind the mirror on my 4/4. Heated screen and position of hood makes no difference.

Just one thing to remember, the small transducer you clip to the 'screen does have a tiny battery sealed in it (last about 5 yrs)
If you log into your account it will tell you if it needs replacing & they will send you a new one BUT YOU HAVE TO REQUEST IT.
Worth noting if you need it to be ready for later this year but have not used it for ages

Probably also worth getting a Crit'Air certificate. It costs very little if you order it from the official site. Information here. Official site to order your certificate here. Many French cities and some regions may require this certificate. Fines can be heavy if you don't have it. Only applies to Euro rated vehicles so you can't get it for older vehicles.
