Hi Bob and congratulations on the purchase of your new car, I hope you have many happy years in it too.

I like the additions too you've bought, I was wondering how you'd carry a spare wheel haha.

Best mod you've done there is the wing mirrors, the passenger side especially was a joke, no way of making it point where it needed too. They would have been my next purchase if I'd have kept the car.

As for the blemished wheel, like you I'm well known in the car circle for being an avid polisher and fusspot. To that end I'm fairly certain that the "paint blemishes" on that wheel were not there in my ownership.

I was under the car a few times weighing up things and greasing it and feel sure I'd have noticed it, things like that don't escape my eye lol. Ask Oakmere!!

Only thing that annoyed and baffled me underneath was the silly and haphazard way the underseal had been applied. Over spray all over the place and on the nice brand new dampers too.....I personally would have rather had it with no underseal than that.

I never had the wheels off it, and in fact when I took it for first service I took it in at aprox 600 miles as I'd not reached the 1000 mark.

I was surprised the wheels never even came off for that, I was with the mechanic in the workshop and questioned this. He said the wheels don't come off for that service.....so that was that.

The wheels should have been taken off surely after I sold the car back to Oakmere as it was then due its 1st year service which I assume they completed after I sold the car to them.

The nature of those marks from the pics looks very much like brake fluid damage.

I'd (if it were me) smear a drop more Brake fluid on the wheel near exiting damage to see if in fact it could be this.
I'd have hoped wheels were powder coated to protect against this but obviously not if this is the case.

Other surprising thing was wheel weights being painted too, other 80ths I saw never had this. I always wondered if I changed a tyre in the future would there be a weight shaped mark where wheel wasn't painted?......I'd sincerely hope not.

Car never saw rain in my ownership Bob either. It sat under its cover in a dehumidified garage and was run in to the letter.

It was loosening up nicely when I sold it and engine was becoming more and more responsive.

Again, well done with the purchase and I hope you fully enjoy the new car.

All the best
Kenny

Under seal on the dampers won’t be a problem for long - my face factory fitted front pair barely made it to the end of the warranty. AVO adjustables all round is the answer.

Pretty sure the underseal was done by an outside contractor back then...

They went 'round the corner' Graham for the underseal. I was lucky that the ARP4 run had just finished and so I was able to twist their arm for clear underseal. Tigger is probably the only Trad apart from the ARP4's with clear underseal, although remember that it was honey coloured in 2005, not black, and presumably that extended either side of 2005. My 2012 was black and it's horrible stuff to work on.

Thank you. In addition to the spare wheel on the rack, I've got a couple of minor appearance tweaks planned (full tonneau, door pockets, Wolf bonnet stays and possibly tri-bar headlights if MMC ever get them back in stock) but that's it. I plan to leave the running gear stock - at least for the moment shades - famous last words....
