Make sure the big white connector on the back of the instrument cluster is pushed home properly and that the pins are inserted and locked in place properly - that is what caused this on mine (can't remember colour of the wire - sorry)

My heater knobs have no marking to indicate what position the switch is in. Hard to tell when at speed. Presume they're all like that, Sir

I never use my heater fan Why not? With the temperature turned up, it always seems to be enough heat flowing through without the need for the fan.

As the heater fan switch is on the left of the dashboard, I have no choice as to whether it is used or not. It is firmly in SWMBO territory!!

problem solved dashboard dismanteld and i took the two big white connectors of and back on and it worked so tkx milligoon
