Just closing the offside hood late this afternoon after tracing some wiring and charging battery, when I noticed the clutch fluid reservoir seemed empty.

Didn't have time to investigate further as light failing but a torch confirmed there appeared to be no fluid at all in reservoir. Couldn't see a fill mark as such but there was a mark of sorts just below half way up the reservoir.

Car still new enough to be not totally familiar with it, and nothing in the manual on this issue, but assume it just takes DOT 4 as with brakes. Will obviously advise dealer about this but think I ought to top up in the meantime. No tell tale leaks on garage floor and clutch still working BTW.

If its the same as 3.0L its std dot4.

The slave is internal on the input shaft with an external bleed nipple on the bellhousing.

I would take it back on warranty. That fluid must be leaking somewhere.

Definitely take it back to the dealer for a inspection under warranty. I would also photograph the empty reservoir before topping up.

Richard, mine is brim full, so unless you take off the cap with the fluid being new & clear you can't tell what level it's at (yours could actually be too full, like mine)

Thanks Jon, that did occur to me although fluid would have to be very clear. Will check again today in better light.

Well another investigation by torchlight in dark garage proved you spot on Jon. I had to check with finger though as fluid so clear. This is what I mistook for empty reservoir although fluid is on fill mark just above mounting band. Reservoir is same colour even at top, it's flash that makes it look paler.

Apologies for the drama oops

On another note having just completed full clean and polish of wire wheels and painting of hubs, I found the nearside front brake hose had been touching the brake reaction stay.

Paint was worn away on stay although no damage to steel braiding of hose ..... yet!

Have bent hose away but loath to use tie wrap as it needs to be flexible. Obviously will contact dealer but anyone else come across this?

One option is to fit a spiral outer protector.

Good idea Dave. Would that be the black plastic spiral strip that binds cables into a loom?

Well that was an easy fix.
