One of my sun visors on Aero8 S3 now hangs limply (no personal comments please) and the other flops down after big bumps. The two rods within the tube should be a tight friction fit and in order to fill the gap I have tried duct tape, brown vinyl tape, aluminium foil and packing the centre space tight with sponge rubber.
Obviously nothing has worked. idea

Is there a DIY fix or is it simpler to just post them back to Malvern for them to fix?
Thanks in anticipation

proposable answers:
DaveW: neoprene around the tube
1560: take them off, weight high off the center of the car
Boshly: look in the USA, they got BIG and sturdy visors
Simon: factory after-sales-service, only them can make you something stylish
Aeroman: I'm not in the country
Philippo: you're car isn't yellow????
Paul Hurst: I can play some music, if 1560 sings it makes the sun go away
Ivo: @Philippo: you forgot black!!!!
109er: Porsche R&D are fixing mine
Heinz: sorry, analysing the road-behavior of my Roadster on a wet N'Ring

If the rod & tube are both metal, tinning a layer of solder on the rod would work, but is labour intensive. A slight bend in the rod might be enough to do it, or a few strikes with a chisel on an anvil. I suspect the factory might chose the latter as a quick fix.
Mole grips might persuade the tube into a less than round shape, but protect the visor with a neoprene shield at the very least.
If the rod is soft metal, molegrips might just squeeze it out of round enough to grip.

Brilliant but he missed AsboJohn: paint your car pink and no one will notice the flappy sun visor. wink

On a serious note - is it worth trying to put another stitch at the bar end? This would increase the tension between the leather sun visor and the metal bar.

The leather does not come into contact with the two bars that are screwed to the w/screen frame. The two bars and the tube they go into, and to which the leather is attached by glue, appear to be stainless steel and probably beyond the power of mole grips. I am tempted with bashing the tube viking (with the bars in place) to create some pressure points but not if this does not work and makes them irreparable by the factory - although maybe just a new frame is the answer. Mine are so bad that if you hold the visor vertically, the bars just drop out! eek

Tinning with solder might work, I'll have to find summat to practice on.......
