I might be wrong so do your own reseach but as far as I know Mohair is a rubber bonded layered cloth so under no circumstances should you use a spirit based or chemical cleaner as it can damage the water repellency and that would apply to the inside as well
I think the cloth is very similar in nature to Makintosh fabric which I have on a few coats
Only a specific cleaner designed for soft top Mohair is best used which I think will just be a mild soap type cleaner
Soap and Luke warm or cold water might be a cheaper alternative

Yes it's got a rubber layer in the middle...…... Well in that case any chemical or spirit based cleaner will definately damage it then and could delaminate the cloth

Closet neoprene fetishism.
Not my doing. I only have wellingtons and a hot water bottle. Both are overt.

For way of explanation, this is a piece of Mohair hood fabric off the roll 3 distinct bands can be seen, on the left is the inner black fabric with the slight cross weave texture you see inside your hood, next is the rubber inter-layer which is a sort of thin bonding layer to stick the two fabrics together, and finally on the right is the familiar outer Be very careful with solvent cleaners, as they could cause the rubber to de-bond from the fabric

Tarka has a lined hood, some sort of velvet material and this covers the hood frame tubes. It is not a normal mohair inside colour, the hood is dark brown and the hood lining a cream beige colour and is exposed when the hood is down, so gets dirty.
I use "Vanish Gold Carpet Care Foam" and it seems to do the job well, but it is hard work as the hood has to be up and taught, so you are working in a confined space above your head!!
So now I have a hood cover: it protects the folded hood, but is a bit of a faff to fold up when not in use.

These are the normal linings used with Mohair, its called Dobby The beige one is notorious for marking, but does make a Mog feel brighter inside with the hood up

There's loads of info on the internet, look at Mohair or Twillfast, the other name.
I'm delighted with my offcuts Mohair underpants. Utterly waterproof.
