I understand that leathers over the last few years normally have some form of synthetic finish sprayed on them. Which is why leather conditioner is a bit of a waste if time. Lots (and lots and lots) on this at Detailing World.

I have just applied some heat to the document wallet that came with my car and i can tell you that the surface melted and smells like plastic burning, underneath the coating is a man made backing

The view here, after smelling and touching the document wallet, is that it isn't leather as I understand leather.
The Build Book is clearly high quality leather, no little white threads on the cut edges...

Certainly had your wallet burnt  Very good! I certainly don't want to be taking any heat to something I may wish to send back. As for ripping off! Morgan! Really? No - surely not..... Although the 'High Quality Leather' description does seem to be stretching things somewhat.
