It is leather, it’s just that those cows have been reared on AstroTurf fields.  I’m deadly serious, You do realise, it’s the same cows which produce the, ” I can’t believe it’s not butter”, stuff?

YIKES!!!!! I am eating toast slathered in "I can't believe it's not butter". I wonder what it is made of. Shredded old tires?????

I worked on the process plant development for a similar product "Golden Churn" in the late 80s.

One look at your photos shows that it is not leather. The standard document holder is made from the same material as the Everflex hoods...from the offcuts in the trim shop. Leather ones are made from the leather offcuts from the trim shop. Offcuts sounds a bit “cheap”....it’s not as there is a fair bit of decent wastage from cutting the hides. I have a decent amount of it from my days there and it’s nice quality and nothing like your photo!

Maybe it came from that well known animal the Faux. When I was working I once had someone tell me that a leather suite was a direct replacement for the one that was damaged (at the time I was dealing with household insurance claims). I said that the old one was vinyl or PVC, the lady assured me it wasn’t, it was from a Faux, as it was sold to her as Faux Leather..
