I took my dangerous Roadster out in the February heatwave earlier. Have to say I felt extremely lucky to survive the monstrous power & ill handling chassis. So much so that I had to endure coffee along with bacon & eggs to simply calm down. Those parts of the tarmac that the car hoovered up as it tramped on, barely in the control of the driver, simply added terror to the experience. I confess to having another cuppa when I finally made it safely home. No, they must be banned. (But not just yet.. )

The BMW M140i is going for much the same reason: the back end is on edge and on anything but a dry road I just don't trust it not to bite.
Having driven one flat out for many laps on a Track experience day, I can say that a BMW M140i is a very very capable car. Everyone who drove one found them not to be intimidating and no one spun one, unlike the M3 and M4's that really were "too powerful" for most average Joes.
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Is there any truth that MMC are modifying the 3.7 seat fronts to accomodate the enlarged cahoonas that develope?
Remember the tramp who had a lift in a Rolls Royce? Driver was feeling charitable. The tramp asked if he could look round the car. He opened the glovebox and found a couple of golf tees inside. “What are these?” He asked. “They are for me to put my balls on when I am driving off” said the owner. Tramp replied...”bloody hell! Rolls think of everything! What a nice touch”.

The M140i works brilliantly when the road surface is as one would expect on a track. But on the much patched and potholed roads of Wiltshire it is another matter. It also works well with a heavy load in the back. My conclusion it is yet another BMW that is optimised for quality European roads and not the rubbish we have to endure.
