Over the years getting the rear belt to stay aligned in the center of the rear pulley has not been easy.

After you've gone through all of the tweaking to keep the belt centered, how does the rear wheel actually align down the center of the M3W relative to being "square" with the front end?

Based on others here and how they ended up having to remove the outside belt sprocket guide and let the belt hang off the sprocket a quarter inch or just a bit less, my guess is that you're going to be dog tracking going down the road.

What did this do to your front belt placement on the BB sprocket? Did the belt move and is now on a slight angle and not truly flat on the sprocket?

Maybe the MMC has changed the rear swingarm a bit and spacered out the rear sprocket to allow for a perfectly centered belt, hope that's the case.

Just throwing this all out there as over the years what you did on belt alignment has not been possible. Glad to see another biker on the forum. Welcome!

Make sure you rotate the rear wheel ten+ revolutions forward/10+ reverse and see that the belt does not move. 3wheeler is rather sensitive to the rear wheel alignment.

Rio del Mar is a local Morgan capital it seems: my next-door neighbour has three and a guy a block away has two laugh

I am not sure it will stay centered, as the only test I did was in the garage, and a trip to the grocery store, so we will see. The front BB sprocket is much, much, wider so more play room for it. However I was only looking from the top as I was using a simple jack to lift things up. My motorcycle jack currently has my 78 gold wing engine on it as I am doing a full restoration (I am the original owner.

It may be just taking that flange off. We will see

Phil, you were fortunate not to be injured and lived to tell the tale.

Roger, i hope the flange removal works for you. It seems tol a newbie here that the flanges are there to keep the elt centered when the belt stretches and starts moving around thus keeping it there until you can get around to tightening it properly. Morgan should pay attention and make sure this is aligned properly before it leaves the factory.
I drove tracked armored vehicles in the military and quickly learned about proper tensions on things that can stretch and get floppy.

I think I may have found the rattle (beside belt not tensioned. It looks like the belt may be hitting against the metal fender piece right in front of the wheel. Next weekend I will take that off and remove some material.

May have been hitting there when the belt was loose. Could paint it and see if it is still hitting

I am pleasantly surprised at the small amount of damage to the vehicle and glad to be able to announce that it's stability under duress is amazing. I was pushed sideways 25 yards, up a kerb and in to a flower bed and the Mog stayed up the right way. There was no chassis damage or distortion nor misalignment found in the steering, all in all what the factory said about the safety of these vehicles and the space frame around the occupants was right.

last weekend I re adjusted the belt tension a second time and VIOLA no rattle. I now think it was a loose belt hitting against something with deceleration.

Rodger, if you're a member of the MTWC read the latest Bulletin article by Phil Bleazey, as it's specific to belt tension & informative on set-up

Any chance you can scan it and post here? That would be very helpful...
