First post pending taking delivery of our 1st Morgan at the end of March. Its a 2014 Plus 4 GDI...and we can't wait to take delivery! Soooo excited! smile

If I may, a couple of initial questions which I'd like input on:-

Firstly, I plan to join the MSCC particularly to access the Scottish "JockMog" region info and activities. However, I'm not able to access the JockMog website which seams to be down and has been for a few weeks. Are there any JockMog members on here who can advise?

A more general question concerning Morgan car security. Just looking for some tips or advice on how best to secure your car when parked up in a carpark in town for example...or overnight at a hotel. Other than not leaving valuables in the car etc, do you recommend taking any specific security precautions...or am I already being paranoid before we even have the car in our possession!!

Many thanks in advance...and look forward to making the most of this great resource in the future. thumbs

Cheers

Mac

Welcome Mac.

We always put a storm cover over the roof, and never leave anything valuable inside.

Only once did we come back to find the storm cover disturbed. That was on a Cornish cliff top in strong winds, which may have caused it. But if anyone interferes with a storm cover, it's unlikely they will get it back correctly, so it's a good indicator of meddling.

Howdy Mac

Never had an issue with security parking up and I’ve parked in some pretty dodgy areas

Particularly at football matches - outside Bradford City’s ground on Maningham Lane comes to mind. But then there were loads of people around so probably any potential meddler might be put off

I’ve parked up in dark underground public car parks in city centres without any issues as well which did worry me a bit

I can’t remember a time when I left my Mog parked with the hood up so it’s been always with the tonneau cover zipped up or with the tonneau cover and the storm cover over as well

I’ve never left any thing in the Mog other than perhaps a tool kit and a towel which is hidden behind the seats

When I’ve had to display a parking ticket, I’ve stuck it to the outside of the Mog or under the wiper and taken a photo of it on my phone, just in case some rascal nicks it but happily I’ve always come back to it still attached

When I have my youngest with me, we also have a disabled badge but I’ve never left that with the car for obvious reasons

If there has been a parking attendant or parking in a hotel or restaurant, I just take the badge with me and mention it to whoever

But I’ve never had the slightest issue

Not had a problem. Always leave it with the storm cover fitted when parking overnight. I have a lockable foot locker to keep the touring tool kit in. swmbo worries about our luggage when parking mid-day whilst touring but we have not had a problem. I use Givi motorcycle panniers which lock on to the luggage rack. Before the panniers, I used a Pac-Safe cable lock to secure the case in place. I don't think it would have held anybody up for long but it kept the ear-ache from Management to a minimum. When touring, I prefer to fit the tonneau cover rather than to erect the hood when parking as it stops people seeing the luggage inside the car.

I've done a fair bit of touring and never bothered with any security. Let your insurer worry about it!

Like everybody else, I've never bothered with any security apart from a simple cable lock when a case is on the rack. I've never had any problems whatsoever.

Touch wood I have never had an issue & I have toured down to S Italy.
Once in the Alps we stopped for lunch & I left the keys in the ignition, but the car was still there on our return.

We use kanulock lockable straps to hold a case on the back.
I fitted a stainless eyebolt to the rear floor of the passenger side & have a stainless cable with soft eyes so I can padlock cases when on the rear shelf.

We have a Librands lockable foot locker.
I usually leave the tonneau closed or the hood up & at night a storm cover.

AI have always added an steering lock and put the roof up. Probably being over cautious but keeps me happy.
