Having just spent the last 19 years with Lotus, this 'special edition' path with the marque started a number of years ago. Initially there was perhaps a 'new' addition a year... but it gradually developed into several a year, maybe more.
Nothing of substance. New paint. New leather options. A few suspension/engine upgrades. But the basic car under all of it was unchanged. Somehow, prices crept up and up for these 'limited editions' and with that, people became more cynical about the 'added bling'... 'how long to the next one... next week maybe!' was often heard on the forums.
I really do hope Morgan don't establish a 'new' market down this route. Sure, it's probably good for the marketing managers in the business and they will gain a few sales from the 'limited' editions... but IMHO this just dumbs down via 'bling' the uniqueness of the brand.
If you have just bought a 110th Anniversary, you would perhaps feel cheated and kinda PO'd that you have just spent North of £50k and yet did not have the opportunity to buy a '110 Works'... and then perhaps a '110 Works 6'... and so on and on... it just 'lessens' the uniqueness and desirability of the brand IMHO...
Please don't get greedy Charles. Short term gain maybe but...
