Using those and dropping the frame first there is no real strain on the windscreen therefore drop the frame first.

When you say folding the hood, that depends on whether you mean fold to store off the car or leaving it attached at the rear to keep in place for more rapid erection (so to speak) while travelling.

If the latter, I loosen the side catches but leave the rear fixings attached. I drape the hood over the rear of the car/spare wheel, fold in the side flaps and roll the hood, therefore no folds in the plastic rear window, rolling the hood and tucking it in the car behind the seats.

Each to his own I guess.

I have some swivel pivots for sale if you are interested. Just PM me.

I have never found them to get in the way of the rolled up hood.

Anyone got any tips or hints for folding an old 4 seater hood? Can't think of a way of doing it without folding (creasing) the side plastic windows.....

On my trip to Holland last week I removed my aeroscreens and fitted the windscreen ,wipers etc.

I have the 9 stud hood and I too found I could leave the rear attached and fold carefully into the void behind the seats without damaging the windows.

In a Dutch downpour I welcomed the option for quick erection and was able to get it up in no time at all (oo er missus !!!)

It was lucky I was wearing my Dutch cap as well...properly protected !!!

I'm leaving now !!!!…..
