Got the chance of this beauty, Rover Mini Cooper, 1275cc, 1997, 63k miles.

Sat outside for 3 years, then dry stored, rust everywhere, but the car is complete and the interior is salvageable.

There was a time I’d have jumped at it, but I’m too lazy now.

Guy wants £500 , it’s a good opportunity if you like welding.

Scotch mist is great for flora and fauna, not so much for steel and of the rust on these things was designed in. All panels are available to fix it at reasonable cost and a finished one has some value, but the man hours required would require to be a labour of love.

You can buy a new British Heritage shell if you can't weld.

I was going to suggest the shell would probably need replacing, looking at the state of the panels...

I've seen 'em restored from WAY worse than that, for originality and future value you need to keep the original shell

If advertised via the Cooper Register it should achieve over the £500, even if someone just wants the engine & 'box

I would second the re-shell. I don't think that 90s Mini Coopers are ever going to be big money. But worth £500 quid I would have thought.
Or
Build a Mk6 Mini Marcos out of it!

That’s what I thought Dean, and a new shell would be more expensive than the car would be worth at this point in time. I suppose if someone had a fresher second hand shell, it might just about be cost effective.
All it has going for it is, a nice one seems to be worth about £5k, as time goes by, that will more than likely increase, while availability of bangers will disappear.

Just re-read my earlier post, by the way, what a load of gibberish!
Sorry to lower the tone, but typing on a phone while in the toilet and without my glasses, doesn’t work very well! pantsdown
