Hi Mac
I also have a 2014 GDI picked up at the end of last year but not run much over the winter. The biggest thing for me to get used to was the brakes. My daily drive is a Discovery Sport and getting into the Morgan from that was a big surprise. Not in a bad way but it is very different. At first I thought there was an issue with the brakes, they do stop you but you need to apply a lot more pressure. Be careful after driving the Morgan because when you get back into a 'normal' car you can brake way to hard. Other than that it is a joy to drive, fast, very direct steering and heaps of fun. Enjoy yourself.

Welcome to Morganeering in Scotland, the big difference you’ll notice is the cheesy grin you’ll have that you don’t get in the day car. Hopefully you’ll join up with other (I suspect Max5 May have mentioned something in his PM) and you’ll travel roads you never knew existed.

Enjoy. 😁

You won't mind if I add my "penneth I know. I have owned Morgans for more than thirty years now and have driven many miles in all weathers. In that time too I have driven all sorts of vehicles and daily swap left for right hand drive. I have never considered the Morgan to be a toy and have only been let down twice by the side of the road, once due to a water pump failure and once due to a relay. There are other long term owners here I know who may have similar experiences. It is true that when I first left my MGB and Elan for the Morgan , I thought that I might have made a dreadful mistake but I soon got over it. As for the cars being referred to as inferior in design or performance `I cannot say that I have found that to be true in practical terms. They are sound cars which deliver a lot. We become better drivers through perseverance and study : somehow the Morgan contributes because we are more aware of our surroundings, in a tactile manner. As an aside, I often wonder what I have gained over the years in moving from my kent engined 4/4 to my current Roadster, experience certainly, and the build quality is very much better, but essentially the pleasure factor has remained the same. I think now that , were it possible to rerun the years I would have kept the first car and developed it as needed. Those of us who feel grounded in this way will know what I mean.

Mine`s a 4/4 but the same applies - I was advised when I picked it up - " Cornering - in slow , out fast and if you go in fast come out a darned sight faster. Always park up in gear as it`s not called a fly-off handbrake for nothing."
then ditto all the other comments - drive it and enjoy - and as often as you can share your enjoyment with others which doubles the fun.

Spring is almost here so get out and drive it, the more you do, the more you will enjoy it.

Spend a lot less time washing and polishing it than you do driving.

If possible avoid driving your Morgan when you are tired. The Morgan's foibles, which some people like to call character, seem very much worse if you are tired.

Exciting times! joy

Much has already been said. I just want to add one tip:
Make sure that the battery of your everyday vehicle doesn't run out!

Seriously: this happened to me because I didn't use it for a few weeks (it was fantastic weather and I was only on the road with the Morgan) and a few consumers (GPS tracker, marten repellent system) sucked the battery out.

The CTEK charger supplies the Morgan in winter and sometimes my everyday car in summer wink

I agree with Ian's summary. Across the trad range, the experience for 90% of the time is the same, no matter what your engine. On the road the feel, the view through the windscreen, the whole experience is the same.

The differences are the engine sound, and obviously in an overtaking situation, the bigger engine Trads come into their own.

Several people have mentioned the brakes. They are indeed very effective - and it is the tyres that you have to watch out for. If you have driven only cars equipped with ABS, you will need to learn the cadence braking technique.
