Doug, it may be worth checking if the filter housing is fitted with the original Ford spec of a dry paper filter, or has the owner swopped it for a K&N type which are 'oiled'
This oil can lead to MAF contamination Worse is this Cyclone engined SP1 with breather fitting upstream of sensor albeit disconnected.  What were MMC thinking!

Well spotted Richard, that'll blow some nice hot oil / crankcase air fog over the sensor, eek !
