Has anyone else had any issues with the paint chipping off of the fan cover that sits on top of the engine? Mine started chipping where the allen bolts hold it to the engine. Now the paint is starting to crack on the top surfaces as well.

Just had mine painted in 2 pack at a local body shop, lets see how long it lasts as it was unpainted from the factory and always looked a bit cheap and nasty unpainted.

I’ve repainted mine and also painted the second plastic piece around the fan - looks much better now!

Has anyone found a source for the red "DANGER HOT!" lettering?

My Cooling Kit retro-fit parts came as unfinished matte black plastic parts and the look has always been disappointing to me. I've started to think about Hydro-dipping (maybe an engine-turned look) but wonder if that would handle the heat.

Whatever the finish I'll imagine that it gets quite a bit of flexing from heat expansion and mechanical stresses that are highest at the bolt holes.

Oh and there was no 'danger-hot' lettering either.

You would really want to re-apply it? That was one of the first things I removed after getting my new M3W! That, and the sticker on the dash which I relocated to under the bonnet.

In my opinion, anybody careless enough to get against a hot exposed engine, is probably too stupid to read the warning. And I thought it was ugly. It was a PITA to remove the letters - transfer decals if I recall. I did enjoy seeing the one bloke on here who changed it to something like "F-ing Hot!" however...

The cover on my 2017 is shiny black, with a nice finish that seems to be holding up just fine so far.

It was interesting that AFTER I added the Cooling Kit people started to ask me what kind of engine my M3W had... ummmm it's right there in front!

The top part of the Cooling Kit shroud partially hides the engine, and would look better without it, but it does serve a real purpose.

Indeed - should have recalled that... I particularly enjoyed your recanting of trying to explain what it meant to a youngster!

Is the part made of ABS or some other plastic?
