Go the radical way of my buddy Hugo. He changed all the wood of the frame of his 1972 +8 to aluminium. I don't agree with everything he did but the doors with integrated frames are beautiful. According to him the car is less than 15 lbs. heavier than before.

He he, yeah, that is certainly not an option for me. I don't weld. Especially not aluminium.
AQM, I forgot: Cars built before 1982 weren't treated with wood preservatives and new cars could probably be ordered with untreated wood.

The ideal situation for me would be to be allowed to epoxy coat all the framing before assembling the thing, and then ask to have every hole made to stick the siding to it to be filled with epoxy or normal glue.
That would probably make it twice as expensive though.
I need to give this serious thought, even though I'm absolutely taken with this thing, despite all the chrome crappola on the finished version. However, my antichrome stance is just one of taste, the other issue is a serious one to me.
