We thought of a run round N/Yorkshire ended up at the Red Lion Blakey point on the N/moors packed , not even room for a fly . So headed home but road closed after we followed this well known road . One of those day that you just unable to find a pub that has a seat . So we said lets go home. Headed North over the N/York moors as we get near turning off to Skelton a 5 car crash but looked as all ok ? except they had all been up each others ass . 1st car front end gone but no car in front !!!!. 2nd car just behind damaged front and rear . 3rd car damaged front and rear the same with 4th car also . They must have been trying to play leap frog . What idiots . One woman trying to direct the traffic coming towards them no police about ( as yet ) Thats 2 Sundays in a row I have heard it happens in threes wonder if we should stop in next Sunday and just watch TV .

If no one is injured the Police tend to be uninterested.

Sad to hear of crash. Regarding the Red? Lion Inn we visited there June 2017 during the M3W Goggles and Gauntlets tour of t'north Yorkshire as organised by Ian & Maria Parkinson. We piled in the busy pub late lunchtime and we're all found tables and served good food in short order.

So impressed, Val and I created our own highest pubs tour later that year. Spent a couple of nights at the Tan Hill Inn (1732 ft asl and highest in UK) and another couple at the Lion Inn (1312 ft asl). Brewery trip to Theakston's in Masham continued the theme

a packed area like around us.
At the weekends I try not to use any motor vehicle.

Finally today sold the Ducati because it has only seen 3000km during the last 10 years.

The mog will be best for the perfect special day commute.

Sundays are for listening to sirens and helicopters in a dense toristic mountain area;)

If you're talking about the gap to leave between you and the car in front, it's the 2 second rule.

I know this because only a couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to be invited to participate in a Speed Awareness Course, courtesy of Avon and Somerset police.

I learnt something interesting on a similar course recently, and which the police are trying to get across to the public. If you enter a smart motorway limited zone while still decelerating, the system is programmed to presume there is congestion, so it lowers the limit at the next gantry.
ALWAYS accelerate as you enter a speed restriction zone!!!!!.

Talking of safety rules there are a number to remember.
Look ahead and anticipate what others might or might not do.
One Two or Three seconds? It depends on road conditions. If there's a risk of ice for example, I would suggest a TEN second rule!
Make regular use of your mirrors.
Read the highway code and if you're keen to stay safe the police drivers safety manual is well worth studying: (Amazon)

Richard , if you want a ride come on the North side to Middleton in teesdale and head over the top of the pennines . What a road it sure does test you and the car up one side and down the other to the moors you have to untie your arms afterwards . Tan hill has been sold AGAIN .I read in the paper a few year ago they had a naturist w/end in that place , I bet they still had to wear fur coats in the summer

Yes I had a Facebook link with them, Tan hill that is. Born in God's county myself but the boring East Riding part. Still our favourite North Yorkshire though. Will check out Middleton road when next up
