A comparison with MGB is a bit unfair. The Morgan's road handling ability is far superior to a MGB IMO. The reason I love a Morgan is for it's road handling ability.

Thanks everybody, think I will run it a bit, Tyre pressures were a bit higher than recommended, difficult to compare with the MGB as it is not a standard set up. Will probally put adjustable spax on the rear to start with. Many thanks for your input. David

Hi, I've just had my 4/4 suspension upgraded with the full Rutherford / AVO system from Tim Ayres at New Elms. Its made such a huge improvement in the ride of my car. You could speak to Tim, let him know your thoughts and ask his opinion. https://www.newelms.com/rutherford-parts/ Agreed. I had Spax shock absorbers before I had AVOs and to my mind thhe AVOs are much better.

On one of My runs to Sun Valley, Idaho, a 600 mile trip, there is a 121 mile segment in Eastern Washington that is very rough. On the way to Sun Valley My +8 had Koni's on soft. In Sum Valley My +8 would be idle as I was driving a 2000 +8 of My Friends to Northern California and Back. I ordered a pair of Rutherford AVO's from Morgan Spares to be delivered in Sun Valley. The back shocks were already AVO's. After replacing the Koni's with AVO's I drove back to Seattle on the same route. the 121 mile segment was much improved and I maintained a higher speed with the AVO's. Still on Soft. I have not experimented with the adjustment.

Gentlemen, I have read and studied your comments and advice on the suspension. I like Rodgers bump stops but they cant alter the ride ? The other argument spax or AVO shock absorbers. Are the Rutherford AVO different to the standard AVO My understanding is that Shock absorbers damp the spring rate, so are the standard s/a too hard so give a comfortable ride. I am not looking for race performance but a more comfortable ride. Sorry to sound a little confused but not wishing to go down the total rebuild of the suspension some one must have had a more cost effect solution. Many thanks for all your input. David

The +8 I had was the most planted Morgan I have owned it had gas adjustable spax shocks. Fitted before my ownership, reputedly a Rutherford setup.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

The 5 lever link suspension for the back end and suplex springs for the front is the way to go for improved ride and handling , ok not cheap but it does work. Worth driving a demo car at a dealer to try before you buy .
Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .
