Good spot, A11OGE Having been visiting the Factory on a regular basis since 1963 I can concur. When Sir John first visited the place in 1989 it had hardly changed in 40 years. His incredulous comments were very huffily received by Peter and Charles who maintained that he didn't understand Morgan and his comments were 'not worthy of us' Then, in the next ten years, they proceeded to implement virtually every single suggestion that Sir John had made! The 'Sir John Hardly-Knows' T-shirts began to look a bit silly! The last ten years have seen a lot more behind-the scenes improvements, but visually it's just pandering to the type of client that Morgans know unfortunately attract.

Yes, they were great. I have subscribed to them now. I didn't know who Pen Hadow was, but did a bit of googling and will be downloading them to listen to them this weekend.



Some people are very entrenched. Fortunately, they make cars both for the elitist traditionalists and people who like both modern stuff and old school stuff. Like you, I like both

Not at all. I love the concept of the EVA GT and when they get the design tidied up a bit (grille too large, windscreen weird shape) I would love to own one. No, my beef, from day one of the design of the Aero 8, is that Morgans have made an appalling attempt to design (if that is the right word) a vehicle that merely harks back to the beautifully evolved traditional car. Apart from being horrendously ugly and totally out of proportion the Aero has nothing whatsoever in common with its forebears other than being a tasteless pastiche. In that respect it is no better than a Panther Lima or any other kit car loosely based on a traditional vehicle. It is more Deep Sanderson than Morgan in its mechanicals so why stick a silly body on it? That it should be produced by the actual manufacturer of the real thing is preposterous! However, Morgans have tapped into a wholly new market, albeit one populated by transient buyers who are prepared to lose a lot of money as first purchaser, that in itself being a new concept for Morgan ownership. Morgans should, in my opinion, have produced an EVA type car instead of the Aero and continued with the traditional car as long as they were able. Still, each to their own, my stated thoughts are merely an opinion to which we are all entitled. I didn't think it was possible to make the Aero any more tasteless, then I saw the Simmonds car!

I re-iterate.

Colin, I know you have a long association with Morgans and your cars (and maybe yourself?) are well thought of in Morgan circles. However that still doesn't excuse you from your comment above.

I pointed out that your comment will include me and gave you an opportunity to clarify/justify/retract but you chose not to. I am surprised and disappointed to say the least.

You have clarified your stance on the Eva and given your views on the Aero all of which you are entitled to. A tad unnecessary in your description considering the number of Aero owners on this forum but as I have already said to which you are entitled.

I love Morgans for the general camaraderie they invoke in most, and I emphasize most not all, of the owners and the general public. I also love my Aero which has brought me into the Morgan fold, as it has others who contribute greatly and generously here. I would however state that in my opinion most Aero owners moved on from Trads also.

Without further to say I'll just end by saying that this client that Morgan "unfortunately" attracted is just about to pay a further £30,000 to support the companythat still makes your beloved traditional car and that will hopefully develop the Eva of which you approve.

Just to be clear, I wasn't meaning that Boshly was entrenched, and certainly Boshly didn't respond "Like me?" to my comment as it looks like in Colin's quote.

To me it's all good. I like the old stuff, the newer stuff, and even their "reproduction" (i.e. the new threewheeler). Of course I have my favourites, but that doesn't make me think less of the choices of the next person.

In fact, at the risk of wedging myself into this spat more than already have, I can see no problems with new owners. I'm about to go there myself and buying into the Morgan Threewheeler. My hope is that it can give me driving pleasure, be a fun drive and look nice while doing it.
I like "traditional", but I really don't see things as sliding pillars as something to aspire to.


To chastice or at least express disdain for those of us that will be or already have bought into these new things from Malvern is quite honestly an elitist viewpoint and anti-progress as I implied earlier with my "some people are very entrenched".

I don't really have a problem with Colin other than this 'old hat' argument that Morgan customers have to be accepted/acceptable to the traditionalists (as in people not cars) and that it is 'unfortunate' that I (and others) have joined the fold.

Regrettably I can't keep schtum, and made a slight stir at LMC when the most pompous of pompous people (and I'm being so polite here) made a really derogatory and condescending comment about Asbo's car and it's existence amongst 'real' Morgans. I think he soon realised I wasn't chuffed.

We're all different and like different things (which is great) but 'Live and let live', 'a Morgan's a Morgan' and all the other cliches we like using are so so apt

Yes, and I've only just finished the therapy. But then I'm not able to claim my other cars a Bentley, or own a 90 ft horse box to carry my ego in.

Perhaps it would be useful for Colin to define the type of person he meant before any offence is taken?
