Yes, I had a good chat with Ian a few weeks ago.
The VinMog hotel is a little further from the circuit than the one he will use, though only ten minutes away - but has some advantages, included excellent evening meals, including the Saturday one that is a gala, with entertainment and dancing until 02h00 (for those with stamina). It is also 'vin compris au volonte' which was very popular last year.
The booking position for the VinMog group is not 100% clear.
They have eighty hotel rooms, and a month or so ago eighty people had completed the 'expression of interest' form at
www.vinmog.fr.At that time 52 had made firm bookings (that is with deposits). The rest all received 'final notices' requesting a commitment by the end of this month.
So far six have made a commitment and another eight have dropped out - which took care of the first eight on the waiting list.
We will probably give a couple of day's grace to the remaining fourteen - but if they have not committed by the end of next week the rooms being held for them will be allocated to the waiting list, with priority going to members in the order of their requests.
At the event we expect that VinMNog and MCdF will share a marquee (as they did last year). The facilities in the marquee for members to enjoy will include a decent quantity of wine from close to the VinMog head office in Provence.
Incidentally there has been some confusion about the event. One commercial company is claiming that Morgan is the 'Marque à l’Honneur.
But if they had looked at:
http://www.vintage-revival.fr/?page_id=31 they would have seen:
La Marque à l’Honneur « Autos » sera ALFA-ROMEO
But this particular Company has a strange idea about the event. A friend sent me a mail-shot he had received from them which stated that at the end of the event:
You will be able to walk all around the ramparts and look down over Angouleme and surrounding countryside.
