Took the car out for a good run around and shakedown following a long winter lay off. The Chrome rim on one headlight came adrift when i went over a big bump. Stayed attached to the car by the screw at the bottom. I put it back on but at the next bump it came adrift again!!! Has anyone got a way of putting a screw in the top to stop it coming off? Do these wear over time or could the fault be with the plastic lamp surround to which it attaches?

The headlamp rim locates on two broad lips roughly 10 and 2 o'clock on the plastic surround. It's then held in place by a single self tapping screw located around 5 o'clock into a hole in a raised plastic block. Significant downward force may be required to locate.

It's therefore possible to miss locate it. Not saying that happened just a possibility. MMC currently also place a short length of self adhesive neoprene strip across the top of headlamp securing ring to tighten fitting of rim and/or prevent rattles. Was this present?

We found the neopreme also stops the dreaded whistle at speed as air rushes through the rim!

No neoprene on the ring. I will have to get some and see if it helps keep it on.

The fit is poor, but by spacing the rim away from the light unit at the screw using a neoprene spacer, it better locates the rim at the top.

Plus neoprene all the way round reduces or stops the whistle.

Isn't the whistle part of original Morgan safety system: the built-in wildlife deterent?
