Fold it how you like, even take origami lessons, but I will be amazed if you find a solution! The retracting springs are generally much too weak. Getting to the reels to tighten things up is virtually impossible as they are put on at the factory before the body tub is panelled.
Another culprit is that when the hood is down, the rear screen doesn’t fold flat (otherwise it would crease) but that too, adds bulk.
Its just another of those annoying Morgan quirks!

I had Williams fit two extra zips as Peter has just mentioned....in fact it was down to him I had it done. I then fitted pairs of straps so that I could roll the fabric back and secure it so there was no interference with the belts.

Glad your enjoying your new car ,in 2014 when planning my Morgan purchase your car was Revolutions demonstrator and is the first Morgan I ever Sat in .
The solution to your problem is to have the extra zips fitted . Allon Whites did mine and as others have said it makes it easy to roll up the centre part and allows the seat belts freedom of movement .

For a couple of years, I did not use my tonneau cover at all. It remained in its polythene bag in which it came. I just put up the hood whenever I parked up.
Caramulo with the Wild Mogs convinced me that a tonneau cover would be useful. So I asked Williams trimmer Dave (RIP) to add two side zips and pockets for the head restraints. These changes make the tonneau cover much more usable. I now mostly have the tonneau cover on and hardly use the roof.
The extra zips help and ease the seat belt issue mentioned.

It would be possible with a little care to fold the cover back under and tuck it above the hood. The cover, however, is a pretty tight fit and there is not a lot of space.

Wrap the cover around the door opening, behind the seat, and tuck corner in as shown.

I have a tonneau cover ( how do you pronounce that ? Tony-oo )
But cant think id ever use it. What why and when would you use one ?

I have a central zipped Everflex tonneau cover. It has been modified to fit round the Librands rollbar. I do the “origami folding sequence” to tuck the sides in and avoid the interference with the seatbelt. It works if the whole cover or only half is needed and pulling the central zip fowrad to seat level seals off the rear stowage area neatly.
A similar origami folding also works for the full hood. It can be aecured to the rear and folded in to cover the rear stowage area without seatbelt interference and is then MUCH quicker to fit in raised position if rain starts, almost like an easy-up hood.
Which to fit before going out?
Depends on likelihood of rain. The tonneau cover is the preferred option but folded hood if rain a probability. Mind you, if caught out then no real big deal. I have put an umbrella up if stationary. Caused some smiles when in Mumbles at the lights!

I have a very similar arrangement to Peter with a Simmond's version of the 3 zip tonneau cover and I have found that it is on the car and in use most of the time but particularly in the colder months when I am driving on my own and like to keep the heat in the car.
It is also very useful to keep luggage and other items secure and out of sight behind the seats when travelling two up. The only downside is that mine is a fairly heavy mohair version and, if for any reason one wants to put the hood up after a downpour has soaked the cover, one then has to find somewhere to put it. Having said that, I still wouldn't be without it.

When folded into 4, It fits nicely into the sidescreen bag which in turn, has a home on the luggage rack.
