So the saga continues. Clamps sourced and fitted and that's stopped that hose leak. But I still have a slight weep - like a tablespoon over the past week (I haven't used the car). It's very hard to spot where this is coming from.... it looks at the moment that it could be a weep from where the matrix meets the side tank, but I am not yet sure (bearing in mind coolant went everywhere when i refitted the hose). I have dried it off and will keep looking.
So I have some options: - put back the plastic one (this was pre-emptive maintenance which is always a risk) - stick in some barrs leaks - but I am concerned about what that does for the engine and indeed the longevity of it as a solution - bite the bullet, spend more cash and get a sifab or mulfab one - see if I can get this one fixed by a specialist.
Decisions, decisions. Any thoughts? Nick

Nick, did you try a couple of turns of self amalgamating tape, just in case your existing hose is slightly oversize / new rad stub is undersize ?

Cheers Jon... It's not the hose leaking now I don't think. I actually put a thin smear of silicone and two narrow clamps at 90 degrees to each other.

I would change the hose, as it may have hardened in the shape of the old rad.
There are some deluxe clamps on the internet eg Demon Tweeks.
When I had a persistent leak on my Roadster, especially in cold weather, it drove me mad for weeks...…..even deluxe hose clamps, and PTFE tape. It turned out that the metal pipe, which wasn't on the rad by the way, was out of round. I did the best I could in the vice, and managed to stop the leak, but sometimes it can be hard work!

Could well be. I did get it second hand. It was pressure tested but I am wondering if this is a very tiny split perhaps in a weld. About to head out again, get it hot, then see what I can see!

Wipe the outside of the joint with a soapy mix when under pressure and you may get lucky and see bubbles (plumbers trick)

Well the hose appears to be sealed ok. But I get a weep from between the rad and the plate that holds the fan. I'm gonna try and flush that gap with brake cleaner and see what happens...
Any thoughts on k seal? I don't want to ruin the engine or heater matrix
