1997 was the changeover year, so it could be either. The indicator repeaters on the scuttle panel suggest to me that it is a short door car. The other method to differentiate is the dashboard , but with the MK version being different that is not possible. However with MMC you never know, and it might be a "hybrid" of the two.

But nevertheless it is a lovely car. Congratulations.

I think it's a short door from the shape around the front edge of the rear wing. But it could easily be a hybrid. Is the bulkhead stainless steel?

Did not the short door models have windscreen demister vents?

Yes Brian.
When the long door came in there wasn't room for them, so electric windscreens from then on.

Actually on My +8 Bitsa I used a long door chassis but installed a short door body tub. I know it is a long door chassis because the crossmember in back of the seat has been flipped, lowering the spring perch. As well the later seats are modified on the outboard edge to clear the spring perch allowing the seat to slide back farther giving more leg room. I did not realize this until I installed the later Roadster Type seats.

Very interesting. It doesn't have demister vents but the windscreen is heated...
And I will have a look to the bulkhead

If you can post a side on view of the bulkhead, door and rear wing we should be able to identify which body.

Having looked closer, the wings look like Superform, so I'm leaning towards early long door.

There are 3 new pictures and I hope it helps to find out if it is a long /short door.
ANd even the question if the wings are superformed would be very interesting for me.

Thank you

All the best, kwa heri

Long door and superform I would say, more importantly though a beautiful car thumbs

I have had a 1994 short door and my present 1999 long door and unless they are together it's not easy to tell. If you run your fingers along the inside lip of the wing you can normally tell whether it has the steel former inside it to identify the wing type.
The indicator on the scuttle has me puzzled for a long door superform though but hey it's a Morgan wink.
