The centre pin is loose on my door striker plate. Am I correct in assuming I will have to remove the trim panel inside to gain access to the rear of the timber frame to remove the striker plate and tighten the pin?

That's what I had to do to mine - I was hoping that they were captive nuts, but not so lucky. Had to unscrew the leading edge of the side panel so I could pull it out enough to get my hand (and spanner) in.
