I shall follow your advice and collect adverts for similar car.
I feel robbed with the fact that through no fault of my own I shall be penalized in the valuation. I am just hoping and being optimistic plus the fact we have no long term injuries it will all turn out ok.

I hope the insurance is trouble free for you, I was with Headley and had the agreed value cheque within the fortnight of the accident.
If you are not with a Morgan specialist insurer Howards advise is good I would say.
Might be worth asking your supplying and or servicing dealer to write a valuation out for you if possible, they can only say no after all.

Good Luck.

Phil, it's a great stroke of luck in disguise that your health has taken no greater harm. Hopefully you both will soon be well again. I don't know the Pass and found this youtube video. I can't judge if the bikers in this video rode fair. I have never driven a motorcycle. But you can see that it is a very dangerous road.

Sorry to hear of this Phil.
As others have said, the car can be replaced. There is a member here who covers insurance assessments.
The good news is that you both walked away.
Good luck with sorting the insurance.

Phil,

Another couple protected by the remarkable crashworthiness of a Morgan. Very glad you and you partner are shaken but not broken.

As others have said, a reputable insurance company will used the selling price for a comparable car from dealers in your area. You could find that you actually get more for your car than you paid for it!

I have one experience of dealing with a write-off, my sons Renault Clio in 2009. It was insured by Aviva and the process was painless. We got a cheque that allowed Andy to replace it like for like and because he wasn't at fault (he was rammed in the back whilst stationary) there was no excess to pay and he didn't lose any No Claims Bonus.

Since then he has had no further accidents, but the whiplash injury took about 5 years to fully fade away.

He now drives a Focus ST for fun and a Mazda 6 for work.

You should be back in a Morgan before long.

Other than going fairly quickly there were a few overtaking moves that were a bit questionable but I didn't see anything particularly out of the ordinary for motorcyclists. I probably would have been a bit more careful in a few places and have slowed down in others: parked cars, crossroads, etc.

Other than the road surface not being so good at a few points I don't see it as a particularly dangerous road however it could become one with inappropriate speed.

The snake pass can be difficult for weather. A few years ago we set off back from Oakmere under clear blue sky, and as we climbed, we encountered thick grey cloud and snow falling. That was April as I recall, and I may have even posted some dashcam footage on TM at the time.

There's no protection from a vehicle on the wrong side on a blind bend though...…….so congratulations for emerging reasonably OK!!

Phil, what a nasty experience you and your wife went through. Fortunately, you and your wife walked away relatively well, considering circumstances. Although one can get attached to ones car, it can be replaced.
As others have said do your. Homework on the value of the Mog, perhaps your dealer can help? In NL a so-called expert comes in that values the car. I found one can negotiate, but you need good data. Remember , the insurance companies are there to make money.
Good luck,
Bert
