Thats good info on Coker. Steer clear and/or verify.

I did send them an email and said a polite version of "WTF". so waiting to hear. The tires seem to have been stored well and look and feel good, but still 14 years is a long time. I am tempted to throw them on right away to wear them out, and then remount the OEM ones later

A sudden deflation would make that decision iffy. Can you return them?

I bought a pair of Blockleys through my dealer. He mounted them and all appeared fine. The date stamp was ten years old and they began to check almost immediately. They were replaced under warranty.

I have heard that ANYTHING over ten years is an automatic no-go.

My Cokers arrived two days ago and they are dated second week of April 2018.

The Avon tires were on the older side. Perhaps Morgan made a quick deal so Avon could clear out old inventory at a good price!?

This has been a very interesting discussion on front tires and since front tires are real important on this machine I started looking at all the tires possibly available. I dawned on me that although there is discussion , some, on speed rating there is no discussion on load rating.

What load rating are you all using?

update: Coker has informed me they do not have any newer tires of the Comp V and asked how I would like to proceed. I have told them I wish to return the tires.

Shipping labels have been sent.... so back to Coker. Good news, Coker was quick to respond and has done the right thing

I would say that the load rating is not that important as all of the tires are capable. The Avon's, however, are built as a rear/sidecar tire and are not built for the torsional forces they undergo as steering tires. I believe (could be wrong! not first time) that the 4x19 tires are straight copies of what the Triumph automobiles used after WWI so they are bias ply car tires.

The 4x19 tires were probably chosen for the aesthetic appeal on the design end. The steering assembly was cobbled together by designers who hadn't read the manuals of which there are many, hence the bump steer debacle.

Don't get me wrong. I love my M3W. It is a terrible kludge of bits of this and that thrown together that somehow works most of the time. The rest of the time we spend tearing our hair out and shouting obscenities to the sky when the fit hits the shan...

Do the splines match the 3 wheeler? Not a bad price.

As to the torsional stability of the tires, are the bias ply more stable than the radial? I know that will generate a debate but since the 3 wheeler puts a different load on the tire that was why I was asking about load capability. The heavier the load the more stress is placed on the tire, cornering or not.

I like the idea of the radials but the low tire pressure would spook me a bit, watching the tire rollover in a corner, looking like it is going to peel off the rim, is unsettling i would think.

it may be why motorcycle radials are not true radials.... but having said that, if you are rollovering the front tires on a turn you probably have other issues to worry about. The M3w weights less than our two Harleys, and to think, you have two tires up front.

I like Michaels description.... cobbled together...
maybe an engineering 101 project-LOL

I would call the steering "twitchy". Nothing more fun than you thought you missed a porthole except the rear tire finds it. I added 5" cushion to figure out where the front of the vehicle is.

still damn fun to drive
