Rob Pike is the man to ask.

From the passenger seat his 18" Avons gave far more grip and stability than my Blockleys. HIs M3W just went round the track as if on rails

So much so that when I jumped back into my car I only just got around the first corner having calibrated" myself to his speeds

If anyone is doubting the grip that motorcycle tires can offer on a "car" type application, look at this. I believe this is Mark Evans from some time ago. These were 18" wheels as they gave more motorcycle tire choices at that time.

Also, MWS Int can lace any size, 18" or 19" up in either a center spoke lace or an outer spoke lace like the M3W uses. If you have a specific need to race, the center spoke lace pattern will be a "bit" stronger with less side load on the spokes and hub. He's almost pulling the inside tire off the pavement.

Relatively speaking, having new customer wheels made up are not all that expensive.

Mark may have had 3"x18" rims installed as these do look a bit wider than the normal 2.5" wide rims.

No, the Blockley 400 x 19 is a crossply.

Wow that's impressive, as the tyre is flexing so much its running right on the edge, guess the softer compound must help.

The OUTER SPOKE LACE is oem? If you order a wheel from MWS does it come with a hub for the M3W or does it need to be provided to them? I tried asking them a question and never got a reply.

Tires, has anyone tried these?

The Pirelli Night Dragon are an upgrade on them. All reports are that they are better.

I see, they were an upgrade several years ago and made for the heavier cruiser bikes.

John.

The Cobra Chromes look a lot like the Michelin Scorchers as far as tread goes.

Normally when you re-lace a wheel you stick with OEM hob. Finding a place to do them stateside should not be difficult. The shop may need to check around to find a rim that is outer laced.

The biggest difference about MC tires is the sidewall is much much stronger than a car tire so that flex is impressive.

The down side of using a MC tires is you will never wear the chicken nubbings rofl

Thanks for the correction on the blockleys.

Dropping down to an 18" rim might make sense for the ease of wheel/tire removal, as well as tire sizes available. The idea of having to loosen a fender to remove a flat tire is not very appealing.
