As a final update, after near 6yrs of ownership, I have sold my morgan 4 / 4 4 seater to a fine member of this parish thumbs

Oh and at less than I paid years ago ,but it's gone to a good home and may even spend summer times in Sunny France

We were sad to see her drive off into "Storm Hannah!"
But hopefully onto new adventures

drive

So values really are not on the up stirpot

I've always worked on the premise that the selling price is not the price sold, based on the fact I have never bought at the advertised price.

Me neither, but this thread started on the premise that Morgan prices were on the up!
This is not the case in the UK at the moment.
But
my loss over near 6yrs was minimal

They might be on the up but once a dealer has taken his cut it’s unlikely that you will break even if you’ve bought a dealer car and sell it on after three or four years. But then......compared to most other makes, depreciation is pretty damn reasonable!

It's not worth even thinking about depreciation...… I always buy to keep so it's not a consideration, although it helps with the inevitable swmbo debates...……

I see depreciation as just a cost of enjoying the vehicle....best to write it off in your head as soon as you make the purchase.

Agreed. If your car owes you money, you're never going to be able to really enjoy it as you'll always have half an eye on having to keep it nice for the next owner.

I just amortise the cost of my Morgan's over 4 years, that way there is no nasty surprises come sale time just good news.
It's a hobby after all and a fairly cheap one at that.

I bought private and sold private.

The dealer "cut" means it's not worth it on a sub 20k car
I can use Ebay / Piston heads/Autotrader

The biggest problem is getting anybody to actually come to view.
so many cyberspace tyre kickers and picture hunters.

Then there's the scammers !

Anyway "little jeannie " has a new custodian
my morgan days are over gloomy
but my near 6yrs were grrrrrreat

I've bought a 20yr old "porker"
I'll still be DIY services and maintenance
porsche dealer service costs make morgan look cheap!

A good independent Porsche specialist will keep running costs down...
I used to take my 986 S up to Yorkshire, but there are a couple around here nowadays.
