Hello All,
I'm curious if anyone has had to replace the front (right) turn signal. The way the signal and related cabling are set up in the US version seems to require more intervention than you'd think necessary (replacement of the cable cover, loosening of the headlight arm, etc.), so I'm going to start by blaming myself for missing something, before blaming the set up.
Any pointers/ideas would be helpful. Ultimately, I really just need to replace the bulb, but that appears to require replacing the cables, too, and that seems wrong.
Thanks!

Not sure about the US setup, but there is some info HERE that might help. This is what I did on an early UK car. It is a fiddly job but basically you need to unplug the indicator cables from the wiring harness & snip any tie wraps so that the cables are free to move. Then remove the tiny screw under the indicator bezel, work the lamp module foward while feeding the cables into the rear of the lamp holder. Snip off the old lamp module and solder on the new one, insulating the connections. Then fiddle it all back together and hopefully everything will work! Good luck!

Thanks! That’s what it looked like, but didn’t trust myself enough to truly believe it was that finicky. Onwards!

I replaced my right hand headlight unit which comes with wiring and connectors attached. To do so I had to disconnect the indicator connector under the front cover to be able to pull all the cables through the flexible cable cover. It wasn't a big deal if you take your time about it. The tricky part initially was getting the connectors off the end of the cables, you need a set of those watchmaker screwdrivers to spring the retainer inside the connector. Then the wires will pull free and you're off and running. You will need to loosen the headlight and pull the flexible cable cover out of its 'p' clips to pull cables through, but it went back in again after with no problem. Once reassembled you would never know its been touched. It took me about 2.5 hours, but once you've done it the once its easy. No soldering or cutting was required.

Thanks, Glenn. I will certainly try this avenue first. I'd rather be minimally invasive; I've discovered that when I get invasive with the M3W, that is when I start to unfix unrelated things that are even harder to fix.

its not hard once you get the end connector off, which is just patience and good eyesight. The rest of the job is straightforward. And it goes back together easy. Take a few pics as you do it, especially the connectors so you get the correct colour cable back into that right slot.
