Does anyone know where the fuel gauge regulator is situated and it looks like on a 1997 Plus 8. I am having some strange fuel readings and I think the problem may be with the regulator or earthing of the regulator.

It will look like this and you will find it mounted on the bulkhead behind the dash. This

Were they still using these as late as 1997? If they were and it's duff I'd suggest swapping it out for a solid state item as the article says.

+1 for solid state equivalent to replace clunky electro-mechanical original. Available below.

Thanks guys, very usefull info as always, I will do some serious investigating as soon as "her indoors" allows me out to play! am hoping that I dont have to remove the dash again as I have just recently refurbished it and I dont want to scratch it.
The problem that I have is that the fuel gauge reads correctly when the ignition is on, but reads 1/4 tank low when the engine is running. I have checked it regularly over the last three years and it has always been like this since I owned the car, so it is not a big issue, never the less it bugs me so I am trying to get to the bottom of it now that I have sorted most of the other more important Morgan issues!
