If your looking for "cheap" I would strongly consider a set of Magnaflows! I can't see how you will beat the Magnaflow "tone" that they are famous for or the performance! And the best part you will not alter the original pipes or M3W in any way. I just helped a M3W customer in California install a set of Magnaflow's yesterday. He will be very happy! For those of you who have used the G56 ECU:
- How difficult was the installation?
- Have you seen a noticeable decrease in average mpg or does this mainly seem to provide extra fuel (hp) at the highest rpm ranges?
- The ECU isn't cheap. Do you think it's worth the cost?
Thanks. Install is very straightforward in my view, as the G56 kit can be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware for your specific car, complete the latest hex AV bobbins and appropriate brackets etc. My MPG improved overall - particularly on a long run - as the engine can finally breath and is more efficient as a result. It's never going to be a 50mpg eco-hatch in terms of fuel economy, but over my 10,000 miles thus far, I've averaged precisely 31.30 proper MPG.... The G56 ECU is indeed properly setup for the G56 kit and works well. Having said that, the stock item will need to 'adjust' itself via fuel trims and in the main can cope perfectly well. In my case I had a rectifier fault which spiked the original ECU and Idle Control Valve, so it was a perfect opportunity to upgrade to the G56 ECU, which was also cheaper than another locked, stock OEM item. But the best reason to change in my view is to get a mappable, unlocked unit that will allow future tweaks and optimisation on a dyno, if the need should arise. Plus of course you deal with the very helpful and affable chaps at G56 and their customer service is second to none

Fully agree. Takes a few trips for the standard ECU to re-align itself. When I first started up Thumper with the new exhausts it rattled the front door very impressively!

You should start selling the kits, would be a good little business here in the US. I would certainly be a customer.

Hi Noon, easy to give out the "rights" to the nearby muffler shop? Sub contract? Some of us guys would appreciate a set of pipes. I took all the baffles out of my system and my car sure is loud--be nice to have a Magnaflow mellow tone

High Noon, can you give use a part number for that Magnaflow? I sure like the sound on your video.

This week I installed the G56 exhaust on my 2012 M3W. The performance results were impressive. I think it's the best improvement I've made to the vehicle. It's like it opened up a new personality for my Morgan.
The sound is deeper and louder - but not too loud. If I'm really hitting the throttle hard, I can hear a cackling sound between gears.
Maybe part of the stronger performance is due to my city's 4,226 ft elevation (1,288 m). The M3W's engine seemed strangled with the original exhaust.

Stage 1 or Stage 2?
And yes, pictures or better yet a video if that can be put into the Post.
