I fear that you are right Heinz and that the Trad model line up as now has not long to run

It is interesting to compare that list to the current dealer list on the MCC website. 16 in the UK is now 18, 2 in Australia is still 2 and 1 in Japan is still 1. But Canada has lost a dealer and America now has a stack where iun 1971 it had none. Both China and New Zealand from 0 to 2. However it appears that Europe is where the main growth has been.

Plus if you compare those prices in 1971 to now they seems quite reasonable compared to now. Using a Ford Falcon as another car that was made back then and still was until recently in 1971 is was $2,200 – 3,410 for a 6 cylinder auto and in 2017 it was $25,630 – 31,680 for the similar based model car. I don't know what a Morgan cost in Australia in 1971 but based on exchange rate back of I think 1.78 makes a 4/4 2 seater $2,007 converted from 1128 pounds. I assume even with the high import duties of the 1970's maybe $4,000 so well less than twice a new falcon, compared to 3027 where you could buy 4 new falcons for a 4/4 Morgan.

Interesting observations on the dealerships and the car pricing comparisons.

I thought Murray's tale of the New Zealand dealer situation was a bit sad when there is a good market there, lets hope MMC don't regret that move.
Perhaps their thinking is that the new Aussie dealer will take care of the business.

My (now NZ citizen) son and his NZ wife might shed doubt on a Kiwi’s willingness to buy from Australia!

Anything please to replace the incompetence of the Morgan dealer in Melbourne.....

Allsports Automotive is in Perth,Western Australia some 4000km by land and then another 3000km “across the ditch “ (Pacific Ocean) so that won’t work !! Plus a bunch of other very real reasons .

There has been "talk" for some time now but not sure if anything has happened. It doesn't really matter as I get the impression the Melbourne Dealer is only used as a last resort.

On the other hand the new Perth dealer has made a real effort with the Morgan fraternity and is fielding calls from eastern states repairers when it comes to the Morgan range.

He even runs a "TalkMorgan" evening once a month (can't imagine where that name came from....) which attracts the bulk of WA Morganeers.

He bangs on pizza and access to his hoists and equipment so you can catch up with your MOG mates, talk about maintenance and repairs based on the collective advice and experience.

It would be a shame to see him drop the official dealership because of MMC onerous and expensive requirements.
