Hi all
Well now I am confused, I asked my local workshop to get the parts in for my 2011 4/4 Morgan to have the timing belt changed, and gave them the VIN and engine number. And told them it’s a Sigma engine, which as far as I knew was just the crate version of the Zetec, that Ford supplied to 3rd parties like Morgan or Caterham etc.

They then enquired with the Australian Morgan agent/distributor Chris VanWyke, with regard to obtaining the parts.
The agent has come back to my service guys saying that’s a Sigma engine and has a timing chain not a timing belt, so it does not need replacing.

I am pretty sure he is wrong, and it’s a belt. Bloody scary if that’s the case and the wrong advice is being handed out, but Great news if he is correct, but is he?
Anyone have the answer to that?

Cheers John

I second that John, I changed my belt in the winter. :-)

John - if your local workshop has not done a belt change on a Sigma before, you might want to diplomatically check that they know what they are up against.

It's not quite as straightforward as it might first look because the cam pulleys have an internal advance/retard timing mech and I believe a special tool (or some ingenuity) is required to hold these in the correct setting - in addition to the normal tdc stuff for the external cam pulley teeth.

If required, there must be a Ford dealer nearby who can also advise? (and they may know this engine as Zetec-S, Zetec-SE or - even more confusingly in some markets - as Duratec Ti-VCT)

Thanks Craig, Paul and Stuart - every thing on the web says belt too, but not everything on the web is true, I would rather believe you guys who have done it.
Thanks for the tip on the VCT issue Stuart, I will let Paul (my service tech) know this too.

OK - looks like getting parts from Ford in OZ could be difficult after talking to OZ 4/4 just now.

Can any of you kind UK chaps tell us the part number for the Timing belt and pump kit and for the Auxilliary belt?

I am damn sure if I walk into my Ford dealer with the part numbers and don’t mention Morgan they will have them in stock 😄

Hi John,
I used a Gates belt, not sure if you can get them over there, but I would think so?
I'll look on the box and let you know the part number.
The job is fairly straight forward but does take a long while as sooo much needs to be removed to get to everything!
You do need a few special locking tools but they are cheap enough and readily available on Ebay.
There are also a number of useful youtube videos of the job, which give some useful pointers :-)
The Auxillary belt part number is 6PK1203.
This was for my 2009 4/4 Ford Sigma, best check though that they don't change as the model year moves on!

Have found this kit locally.
Would anyone who has done this know if the OEM numbers match what parts were used on your car please?
