I agree. Having just spent 2 weeks touring in Ireland, England and Wales in a Nissan Suv and a Skoda Octiva estate I can say that both cars were unremarkable. As for the WOW factor I rely on my wife. We saw a Caterham Seven, 2 Mogs and 1 Aero all of which elicited a WOW!! As we were driving to Hereford i saw the sign to Malvern so we stopped in to do the factory tour. More wows in 2 hours than 2 weeks on the road!!

I only like converible cars. On a previous forum I had a message on the bottom of my posts "A car with a roof is just transport"
The only car that has tempted me to go into a showroom for a look is the Mazda ND with the 2 litre engine upgrade. I just wish I could hire one for a day to see what it would be like to live with.

Over our recent tour of Scotland, the roads were populated by lardy over-styled SUVs and bloated saloons.
There was a time when a new car release really did create a wow factor.
Going way back, the Dolomite Sprint was one such car.
And the droop snoot Firenza estate...........
So ignoring supercars, have there been any Wow! car launches in the last few years?
I can't think of any......... What does Wow mean exactly , as we all have very individual assessments of cars and then practicality creeps in big time - boot space , people space which then makes car design conform to people carriers/SUV's which now predominate !

The Ariel (all of them, especially the ACE bike) range, just love the detail and form.
Bentugly and RR Cullivan for the wrong Wow reasons.
The recent Fiat 500's as they remain the closest to the original but relevant to the modern needs. A smidge ahead of the Mini R56 in this respect, the latest upgrade is just TOO maxi.
The Alpine, I agree a balanced and thoughtfully completed project. I look forward to some tweaked hardcore versions coming to market.
Love that Dolomite Sprint, killed a few sadly. Having said that I need rose tinted spectacles to think it was a good car. Still love it.
Oh and the Aero Coupe/Supersport/S1 and top of that pole, the Max. Makes every day an event.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I think Wow simply means that it's a car you really want to own. It doesn't have to be a class leader in anything, just to give that vibe. With the money I would have bought a new Dolomite Sprint, or a Lotus Europa at the time...……….. I had a rental Golf MkIV early in production...….it Wowed me......yeah I know, and when I could afford one, we got a new one, and it was a fantastic car over ten years ownership...…… That sort of thing...…...

But has there been anything to match the real WOW factor delivered by the Citroen DS in the 1960s and E Type in the 1960s??
