Is it easy to remove and re-fit chrome overidders?

Where might I get them coated?

Thanks

I removed mine to paint the brackets where the paint was slightly flakey - dead easy - one nut to undo.

With regard coating them black I don't know. Chrome won't paint will it? Plastic coat them? - there is a plastic coating in halfords that canbe peeled off if req - not used it myself - but might be good to trial to see if you like them black.

Then there is the question of matt/satin/gloss finish as well - I expect a paint expert will be along to offer an insight......

There should be one big domed nut, and a much smaller one at the bottom under a grommet.

They are stainless, and I would investigate having them wrapped.

The front ones will suffer from stonechips……….

M10 dome nut on captive stud and pozidrive head M6 screw at bottom accessed after removing rubber plug - on latest cars at least. Changed the fixings to stainless and the bottom screw to socket button head.

I had mine powder coated satin black by local company GKL adjacent to Snetterton, for very reasonable cost. Doubt anything will damage that finish.

No paint adheres ( well ) to chrome. But most overrides are in stainless steel.First an etching primer then 2k primer and ready to paint.

Quick and easy and they wont need to come off.

Plastidip is one coating you could use. It peels off ok provided it is applied thick enough with 5/6 wet on wet coats. Lots of colour/ flake/ sheen options. Look on you tube for videos.
I think Frost also do a version.
I have been thinking of trying it on my car, especially the alloys as a test for colour change. Peel it off if necessary.

Chrome is an absolute pain to paint. The painters who do my chromed motorcycle petrol tanks, use something like a dental burr to prepare the tank before an etch primer.

Thanks for all of these replys - will look at wrapping I think - as consensus seems to be that painting chrome is a challenge.
