My dealer recommended pointing the heater vents at the rear of the gauges, made little difference, When I contacted the factory, they said they had never heard of the issue. This is an absolute joke, whoever said that shouldn't be in a customer-facing position. It's been a problem for 25 years to my knowledge. Oh tmg513, you can’t repeat that old news..... Ha ha!

I pity those whose cars don’t have mistifying glass. This feature dehumidifies the atmosphere inside the gauge and protects the electrical components. In all seriousness though, I do hope you come to love your Morgan, in sickness and in health.

The small gauges on my 2000 Plus 8 all mist up to some extent, but clear slowly as the cabin warms and/or are backlit. My RPM gauge also has a mind of its own. Just about every gauge in the Yak-52 I used to fly also misted up. So both the best boys toys I've had the privilege to own all misted up. It's all part of the charm. The strangers who smile, point and wave as I drive past don't know my gauges have steamed up. My wife has a Nissan and nothing mists up in that, but there again nobody waves when I drive past :-)
Hopefully your power delivery can be resolved though
Cheers
Rich

Mine mist up too, but only for about 15 minutes. Does anyone actually use the gauges? Surely they’re just for decoration?

I had an issue with the gauges misting up on the Coupe but the problem is mainly due to the garage not being well vented. Once I fixed this and a breeze was getting through the problem went, could it be damp in your storage area resulting in this issue being more pronounced? I agree re the setup for a new engine. No wide throttle openings or high or steady revs for the first 200 miles. Gradually allow the revs to rise but again on light throttle openings for <500 3500/400/4500/5000 per 50 miles. No big throttle openings until 1000 miles are out of the way. Most of this is to protect piston ring/liner stuff but in truth is probably no longer needed with modern casting and material quality. I still do it as I like to think I am helping.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

The gauges on the my 2014 Plus 8 occasionally mist up. Exactly the same as on the Roadster I owned previously. Both cars were and are housed in a dry, warmer than ambient temperature brick built garage that is essentially a part of the house. So the air in the dials is usually dry and warm. In the winter, when it is cold outside, the dials will must up, not to the point where I can't see the dial, but enough to be mildly irritating.
The flat spot issue is almost certainly due to the engine's newness. The "crate" engines are bought in by MMC, put in the car and checked to see they work through a short road test. They are not run in. No modern car engine is run in by the maker (other than some of the exotica): the 2.0L turbo in my Mercedes AMG A 35 came with strict running in instructions for the first 1000 miles and moderate restrictions for the second. Initially it was a bit disappointing but now, at just over 2000 miles it is a changed animal.
The price of your car reflects its hand built nature, but with any bespoke product there can be issues that need sorting out. As others have said, give it 2000 miles and then make your dissatisfaction clear - if it still exists. Morgans are an acquired taste: comparing my +8 with the A35 is pointless. Both have similar performance: the A35 is a series of networked computers that make the car perform, the +8 has 2 interlinked computers that run the engine and gearbox, plus an ABS system. Your car has but one engine management computer: MMC use a standard map, which may not be optimal for all drivers requirements. There after market alternatives, but MMC simply do not have the R&D funds to explore every option.
I agree with Hamwich, owning a Morgan requires the owners mind to be re-calibrated somewhat. I hope you make the transition and learn to enjoy your car for what it is. I feel that owning a Morgan is like being in a relationship. As with all relationships it is pointless to expect that one partner can change the other: that is a sure route to unhappiness.

This 'running in' an engine thing is like the 'holy grail'!
I really do believe we are all getting far too hung up about it!
The engines in the 4/4 and Plus 4 are just 'another' of 100,000's of thousands of GDi's and Sigmas that have adorned Ford road cars for years... and Morgan just drops them in to their cars! There are huge numbers of those Fords worldwide, owned by peeps who just buy and drive, lease cars and even rentals! How often do you see a Ford 4 cylinder, stranded on the road side through a terminal engine failure? I would wager, not very often!
Added to this, how many high mileage Morgans do you see? Let alone cars that have been owned by 'one careful owner' since new!
Personally, I would just get in and drive the car. Enjoy it, give it a little respect of course, but I think all these variations of 'running in procedures' probably based upon the hand built engines of old, are simply not relevant today.

The GDi is a Ford engine so it would come with a standard Ford map. So....do Morgan remap to what they think suits a lighter sports car? If so then I guess they have learned enough by now to tweak the map? Have they been lazy? Here is the Ford info with power and torque curves. Has the Morgan installation caused differences? What have they done to compensate for not using all the standard Ford sensors for non installed components? The dealer option is the best first choice in my opinion. Could be an installation error. https://www.ford.co.uk/content/dam/...cation-details-data-sheets/20-gdi-np.pdf
