Well the Lion was put there to commerate a Prince of Orange who was shot in the bum by his own men after he got most of them massacred by not forming squares before cavalry.

To build it they destroyed the famous ridge in part and now on the ridge are all these cafes named after the losing general.

Still I do like to visit Waterloo.

And that is a nice picture

You're right indeed John. But I thought the symbol of Waterloo would still be perceived as a nice hint, Morgan being English.
After all, the Eurostar trains arrived for years in London in ... Waterloo Station. You know how to tease the French.
Having said that... to quote the winner: Nothing except a battle lost can be half as melancholy as a battle won.

They've totally refurbished and enhanced the museum, I strongly recommend a visit. They have really extended the collection of documents and evidences. It is also very interactive and the museum goes beyond the battle itself and frames well the situation in Europe from the French revolution to the geopolitical aftermath of the battle.

Happy to provide some tips in terms of restaurant and pubs in the region in PM. There's a relatively nice country side to ride a Morgan through as well. Not as nice as the English one but still good :-)

A thread about Waterloo and Morgans

Who would have thought that’s how I’ve organised my home reference library

I used to stay either at the Auberge de Warerloo or the far better Chateau du Lac on Lac de Genevelle.
There are wonderful roads for Mogs in Belgium.

Waterloo ushered in a long period of peace in Europe. Sadly I think Brexit may be the start of something else.

I wish I could see the photo - is this another issue with my configuration?

Ah, you don't have the frames on the left Stewart.
Not being a Fruit user 'fraid I can't help on that score.
