They are old "butter and bread cars", but I love them. love They are amazingly cheap to buy, a good saloon you get for 15000 €. If I only had the space... smirk2

Rumble seat, here in Germany you say "mother-in-law seat".

A fellow Morgan owner and SogMog member has one. He very kindly drove the bridesmaids in it at my daughter's wedding two years ago.

He has lent it in the past for a couple of feature films, it is a bright shade of yellow because it appeared as a New York taxi in one of them!

Iconic vehicle, many were still on Canadian streets and roads throughout the fifties. I remember them well, oldgit
as both driver and passenger. Faster and more comfortable than the Model T. smirk2
Many of us prairie brats "learned" how to drive in one. drive

Great photos Jens!....some wonderfully restored examples featured at this meeting. shades

That's very funny, how do you say that in German? I love the way the German language is able to turn a humorous phrase into a single word. One of my favourites is schattenparker meaning a wimp, literally one who parks his car in the shade.

In the UK the rumble was commonly known as a Dickie Seat but I've no idea why.

Schwiegermuttersitz smile

There is an other thing named "Schwiegermuttersitz" in Germany, the big cactus Echinocactus grusonii

laugh That's hilarious. You Germans really don't want your mother's-in-law sitting down do you? laugh2

I shall add Schwiegermuttersitz to my list of German words that we ought to have in English. Thank you.

The 4-cyl. Ford A's are a little too slow for today's traffic an d 8-cyls aren't cheap here on the continent. But both are great fun anyway.
And one German word which I miss in English is Verhältnisblödsinn - something like a completely unappropriate measure (like restoring the whole car because the ashtray is full).

They have a 3,3 litre engine with 40 horsepowers, it could be worse.
Some participants of the meeting have driven 400 kilometres, one way. Of course not on A-roads.

The Model A engine also became an aero engine in the 1929 designed Pietenpol Aircamper. Enthusiasts are still building them today. Forward visibility is rather restricted due to the radiator placement but hey, Lindbergh flew the Atlantic with a fuel tank for a windscreen. I'd be very happy to add a Pietenpol and a Model A Ford to the collection.
