Me neither. I can't think why I would possibly want to watch a bunch of other people doing something when I could be playing my guitar or fossicking around in the workshop/garden.

I have little interest in watching sport on TV. I do, however, follow the Villa home and away and haven't missed a game in any competition for over two years. You can't beat the roar of the crowd.

We were driving back from London yesterday, so Susie
managed to watch the end of the tennis when we arrived home.
I listened to some of the cricket while driving, but only when Susie was asleep.
Apparently, my daughter and her cricket mad partner were in a bar near Lords during the match.


ps To and from central London from Devon, via the M4/M5, in Susie’s loaded up 1.2 Fiat Panda - 57 mpg! Pleased with that.

The dilemma for me was what to watch or record.
Tennis....neither.
So down to cricket and F1.
Now....F1 is a 2 hour record and can skip the boring bits. That got recorded and watched late last night. Some good racing in parts.
Big miss for the cricket. I have recorded the highlights to watch. Despite knowing the result I will enjoy the action developing. I was planning watching it live (with some interruptions ( ).
We had a last minute call to go for a run. Had to miss another on Sat so said yes to this one. A rush to get to Llandovery but the town centre was closed for roadworks so others were more delayed. Really poor diversion set up and narrow, country lanes meant one couple were delayed a lot. Got back home at 23.15 after a great day out and no regrets about missing the cricket. Well....just a couple.

That end to the cricket was just amazing. there were times where I just barely could watch it was so tense

The F1 was great as well and the tennis going to 5 sets with Federer losing two champoinship points on his serve was pretty gutting

I think it’s great we are all different! For myself and Lady HB, well we were at Silverstone for the third year running from Thursday onwards. The previous three years we were at Spa.
I have to say we do F1 rather well in this country in my opinion. Regardless of team/driver you support it seems such a great atmosphere. This year exceeded all previous ones. Yes, as a long term Lewis fan (pre when he arrived in F1, and feel same way re Lando) I was happy that he won and in style (we sit in Club Corner on race day each time (all the major incidents seem to happen within sight of us us in the last three years) and then run/shuffle on track) but the young guns showed what’s in store for the next 10 years and I am soooo excited. In F2 there is still more British talent coming through (well done Jack A-great racing on Sunday!!!). Honestly to witness the way they beat the laws of nature with the speed as they enter Becketts, it takes your breath away. I wish I had just a hundredth of the talent and bravery....
Post race before joining the traffic queue we saw a bit of tennis and cricket but have to say the adrenaline of being amongst 141,000 other race fans (over 351k over the three days or so) was fanruddytastic!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the racing on the front line, I thought it a great race with Le Clerc and Verstappen shining brightly and Lewis showing everyone how it should be done on hard worn compound tyres and setting fastest lap.
Vettel demonstrating once more how to be a poor loser, I was so pleased that Max recovered well. Karma is alive and well.

I have a pal who bought season tickets for Villa as a way to share experiences with his lad. He also bought one for his wife, a very intelligent lady, but she flatly refused to do anything but sit on the stands reading a book. What a pity she couldn’t see past her prejudice.
However I also have a pal who married a Polish lass who has a 20 year old daughter. The two of them are open-minded enough to see the enjoyment in most things, even ABBA tribute bands.
I invited them to watch the last day of the 2005 ashes, explained a few things, and they were instantly hooked. Now they are always interested in cricket as well as other sports.
I suppose they wouldn’t want to deny themselves the excitement and pure joi de vivre that sport gives, even to spectators. And if you find it more exciting to be alone in your shed rearranging your spanners, well , I suppose that could be sport of a kind, maybe if you did it against the clock?

This practise should be encouraged as it leaves more petrol for us that like to get out and use it, I'm glad I don't have a shed two garages is enough.
