So I left my 2012 plus 4 parked in the sun yesterday for perhaps 30 mins. It was pretty hot... over 30 degrees where it was sitting I'd say. Came back to start it and the rev counter went to full deflection and stayed there. Switched off and on and the rev counter stayed at 0 even after starting. Switched off and on and went to full deflection even after starting. Switched off and on and zero. Switched off and went and left it 5 mins. Then back to normal. Switched off in garage after driving home and i haven't dared to look at it again yet.....
Anyine else had ghis?

Recall most advice given here in the past relates to ensuring a slight delay between switching on ignition and actually starting the engine. This gives time for ecu to sort itself out. Suggest a delay until fuel primimg sound stops, speedo has jiggled around (as it does if you watch closely) and settled to zero and immobiliser light gone out. Sounds a lot but only a few seconds in practice.

True Deejay I also understand it lets the ECU settle down.

That is the procedure I have always followed and, touch wood, it seems to work.

Mine has done similar, and I was advised on here to turn the key with the ignition lights on only for approx 10 seconds before turning the engine over. Something to do with the ECU
No further issues for me

My speedo does this, it takes a while for it to settle down, must try the delayed start trick. I have a Omex ecu in so this could also be the issue.

Sounds a lot but only a few seconds in practice. I was told this by the Ford Regional Service Manager, when I had a recurring problem on a new Fiesta, a few years ago. He advised me to wait until all the check lights had gone out, before starting the engine. It solved the problems on the Fiesta and it is now habit for me on my 4/4 and my current tintop.
