On my 1995 Plus 8 the alternator bracket is a Morgan item, says Morgan on the bracket, so not a SD1 or LR item Yes Mike same with My +8. Stuff changed thru out the years I guess.

Great stuff guys, tq. As I said, not busting urgent fortunately, I'm going to give it some thought. The slot in the valence allows me to get a spanner on the rear bolt and I can get on the nut of the front one with a flexible drive. The problem is the length of the bolt will not allow me to remove it. I may take the grill off and cut a hole that is big enough to take a socket and then withdraw the bolt. I'm going to Silverstone on Sunday so will be checking out similar age +8's and their owners! I always fill my new oil filters before fitting and have never noticed a priming issue fortunately but thanks for the warning.

Teknome: Interesting that your bracket is actually marked Morgan, I haven't seen that on mine. SD1 is written on the alternator in felt tip and TVR on the engine!

That's interesting, my 1999 Plus 8 has Morgan on the bracket too as did my 1994 Plus 8 out of interest. Good Luck with the job. With TVR being on the engine do you think your car has had an engine swap at some time.

My 1994 +8 has Morgan on the Alt Bracket, was able to remove it by putting a socket through the cut out. It's fiddly and patience is required, I agree it is tight against the bodywork but it works.

I've had the car from new, I guess Land Rover had it originally destined for TVR?
