I’m thinking of buying one. Has anybody owned one? Good, bad, any opinions?
Any thing to look for when viewing for one?

No experience of the Eos, but have had Golfs since 2001, and now a Polo.
VW's are just very capable cars without charisma. Nicely finished inside, they do the job, without shouting about the badge. I love both of ours.

Yep. We had a couple of Golfs and a Polo. Good, solid cars.

My brother has vws. Dependable. Good in every way. But boring; he's always on about buying something more interesting. But he doesn't because they are so good.

We have two Polos. Solid, reliable, fuel efficient and my two door with 115 bhp goes well. It has all the toys my C class Merc had but is far cheaper to run & service.
A friend back in Bucks had an EOS and it seemed a nice car. Why not trying scouting the web for VW EOS groups.

No experience of the Eos but we have had VW Golf's or Polo's for 20 years and they do what they say on the tin, the Polo GTI Turbo with 150 bhp that is my good ladies goes and handles very nicely too.

I spoke to friend who used to work at a VW Dealer. He said a lot of positive things.
Solid
No significant driving or mechanical problems
Depending on your choice of engine sensible and fuel efficient.
His only negative was quite a significant one.
The folding metal roof was a bit of a swine. Lots of problems and warranty claims.
Ask the buyer to sit in the car and drive through a car wash, use a jet wash spray lance to see if it is tight.
If the car has had any accidents and the chassis has any twist the thing was impossible to align afterwards.
His choice was the far less attractive Golf Conv. with the manual box and decent petrol engine.
Or if you are feeling a bit "dahling" the Beetle Conv. Don't forget the daisy/sunflower for the dash.

Only joking, I have had my Beetle Cabrio for almost 13 years and it is totally brilliant. It doesn't do anything but start, get you there , stop and then do it all over again. IMHO, if you want a convertible that isn't going to cost you the earth and does everything you could reasonably expect of a modern car then it can't be beaten.
The only slight down side is having to keep changing the water in the dashboard vase. I have an orchid in mine don't you know!!! The other great thing about a bloke driving a Beetle is that you are seen by other road users as non threatening so people let you out at junctions. As for VW's in general, I have had four others over the years including 2 MK1 Golf Cabrios which of course I now wish I had kept.
I did try an eos after buying the golf and they seemed a very nice car, a lot rarer than the Beetle
Here for a good time not a long time!!

 Never meant in bad way Reg. Someone from our office has just bought a late 17 Beetle Conv. and they love it to bits. Mind you the good weather we are having currently might be helping that

As Alistair said - they have a reputation for leaking and unreliable roofs.
Wonder where I've heard that before...
Someone on a mail list recommended I look at them over Golf Cabrio - on line searches and other members of same mail list said stick with the Golf:)
